When you are writing a research paper, it is important to cite your sources correctly. This means giving credit to the authors of the works you use by listing them in a specific format.
AMA style citation is one common way of doing this. It is a world-renowned organization for physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations.
Its official name is the "American Medical Association", which contains the full text of the original's abbreviation. The style is written by the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The Journal of Medical Association's style is the most frequently used citation style for journal publications and reprints. Aside from this, various disciplines and fields of study employ a variety of other citation styles.
The format is distinct from APA and MLA, as it follows the numerical referencing and citation style. The number is superscript, and the full reference appears in the list of references after it.
In this blog post, we will teach you how to properly format and cite your sources while using AMA style. Also provide you with standard format and helpful examples. So, keep on reading to learn more!

AMA style is used by the journals and publications of medical organizations. AMA, NLM, and AAA styles are specifically developed to guide publishers and editors of medical journals.
This citation system uses superscript numbers that are placed next to the quoted or paraphrased content in your paper. If someone wants to see the full list of references, they can click on the superscripted number.
The AMA method for references follows the author-date format, where the author's name and the date of publication are included in parentheses after the cited reference.
Paper Due? Why Suffer? That's our Job
The list of references is also arranged in numerical order, which is unlike other citation styles like APA, MLA, and Chicago.
Other styles are given below;
What is the proper way to cite in the AMA style?
Many students have difficulty citing sources using this style because it might be mistaken for other formats like IEEE. We have put up a guide that will go through a step by step process to do a AMA citation.
AMA-style citations are based on a number system of citation, similar to APA. When citing and formatting your paper in AMA style, keep the following AMA style paper standards in mind:
The introduction, which is the first page of a paper or essay, includes a title. The full name of the student, the subject and paper titles, and the paper deadline are usually included on the title page.
Rather than creating a distinct title page, the instructor may sometimes instruct students not to do so. If this is the case, rather than creating an entirely new title page, include the header with information such as the student's name, the instructor's name, and the course name.
Citations are included in the text of the paper. The main body sections includes all the claims, explanations, and supporting evidence.
When using someone else's work in your own research, it is important to give them credit. This is done by including in-text citations.
When you finish writing your paper, add superscript numbers in front of anything that is quoted, proven, or suggested. If more than one number is required, use a comma to separate them and add it as usual.
The American Medical Association (AMA) citation style uses a numbering system to list all of the sources in the bibliography.
On the other hand, the citation style has various formats and designs for each type of source. Such as books, internet sites, and journals.
According to the AMA Manual of Style: A Guide for Authors and Editors, 10th Edition, here is how to create the references in the AMA style.
